Abstract

Planning culture is a term that is often used in planning theory and practice as numerous publications and research projects show. However, planning culture as an action-oriented research perspective is often less well-defined or not used coherently. Against this background, it seems necessary to have a closer look at the current concepts of planning culture. It is thus the goal of this special issue to critically reflect on current analytical approaches and empirical evidence related to planning culture. By doing so, this special issue also discusses the question to what extent planning cultures can contribute to a contemporary understanding of planning processes.
