As part of the closing activities of the SEE-URBAN-WATER Research Project, a two-day conference “Vision Urbana del Agua - Infrastructura Verde para la ciudad, sus ciudadanos y sus ríos” (SEE-URBAN-WATER - Green infrastructure for the city, its citizens and its rivers) was held in the University of Costa Rica, in Spanish language in order to reach the largest possible target group in Latin America. On September 21st and 22nd 2023, the SEE-URBAN-WATER team presented its project outputs and results, which have been documented in numerous scientific publications over 5 years. The presentation of the project results on the first day of the conference was accompanied by thematically related talks from experts from science, administration and practice.
On the second day, SEE-URBAN-WATER presented the project's most important products, including the book “Guías Verdes” which contains a compendium of instructions for promotion and implementation of Nature-based Solution, previously published on the project's web platform GuiasVerdes.org. This product is based on the activities carried out in the SEE-URBAN-WATER Real-World Lab in the Greater Metropolitan Area of Costa Rica. The book also includes instructions developed in cooperation with partners in Costa Rica to document additional experiences with Nature-based Solutions and Urban Green Infrastructure. The book ‘Guías Verdes’ is available in Open Access DOI: 10.15488/14474.
In addition to the presentation of SEE-URBAN-WATER, two discussion forums with local experts took place on the second day of the conference. The first one was related to “Citizen Participation in urban water resource management” and the second to “Challenges, actions and perspectives for the implementation of green infrastructure in Costa Rica”
